About US

Gabriela Friedl

I hold a PhD in environmental sciences from the ETH  Zurich and a degree in GIS from the University of Salzburg.

Over more than fifteen years I have been working in humanitarian aid, for various non-profit organizations, Unicef and mainly for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in the Humanitarian Aid Department. As a Programme Officer, I was engaged in the field of WASH, GIS and Rapid Response.

I have been part of many missions abroad, as a humanitarian aid expert in direct implementation of WASH projects, as backstopper, in evaluations and capacity building.

Since January 2008, I have been working as a freelancer, providing consultancies and trainings in  WASH and GIS.

I have worked in challenging contexts including South Sudan, Afghanistan, Haiti, Pakistan, Kenya, Western Sahara, Mozambique, Philippines, North Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

Since 2019 I am the deputy chief  of the Expert Group WASH in the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit.

Kim Müller

In 2020 I joined my colleague Gabriela Friedl at Waterlink as a WASH consultant.

I’m engaged in the international WASH sector for more than 15 years with the main focus on development cooperation and humanitarian aid. After my master studies in environmental engineering at ETH Zürich, I worked for Eawag-Sandec, Caritas Switzerland and SDC as a WASH advisor and WASH project coordinator. I conducted several deployments abroad from short-term project monitoring, evaluation and backstopping (e.g. in Kenya, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Ethiopia) to rapid response after natural disasters (in Haiti, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mozambique) and longer-term WASH reconstruction missions (in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Bangladesh).

Since 2010, I’m a member of the expert group WASH of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit (SHA) for whom I also have a longer-term mandate for training colleagues from SHA and partner organizations on the correct use of our WASH equipment.

Since 2020 I’m a member of the advisory sub-committee of Swiss Solidarity to evaluate WASH project proposals and provide WASH support whenever needed.
